DAVID ORTIZ SETS RECORD IN SEATTLE

Ortiz doubled in his first at-bat to pass Baines for the most hits as a DH and hit a two-run homer an inning later, leading the Boston Red Sox to an 11-4 win over the Seattle Mariners on Wednesday night. Yay !

UPDATE: JULY 11th: Day baseball today at Seattle. Things are not going so well, 4-1, Seattle, top of the third; Dempster is pitching.... more later....

Sox pulled it out, 8-7 in the tenth.....we're still #1 as the Tampa Bay Rays come charging up in the standings; they are only 4 games behind us. After the dismal horrible last season, we are getting to see great baseball - missing Roby.....

UPDATE: July 14th:
well, we lost to the A's last night. We are all bleary-eyed in Beantown from these 10:00PM games out on the west coast; glad they're over. Today is day baseball...3:40 pm...stay tuned......

Bernice emailed and said: "The Red Sox are doing very well after last year's disaster. The other teams are creeping up, so hopefully the Sox will continue on their quest to maintain first place. Bob would be proud. I just celebrated my 85th birthday - what a number - can't believe it......"
