CREDO by Robert Sandler

Tonight is Erev Yom Kippur. Roby's words seem to capture
the meaning of it.

CREDO

In our spiritual moments . . .
Let us feel a sense of awe and reverence for the majesty and grandeur of the "ORIGINAL AND CONTINUING CREATIVE ENERGY IN THE UNIVERSE" (OCCEU).

Let us PRAY as if there IS a listening Deity, albeit with  unknown attributes and capabilities.

In our daily lives . . .
Let us work and love and interact with other human beings as if there is NO listening Deity ...as if we are all responsible for our own destiny and for the destiny of the human race.

Let us acknowledge the inscrutable reality that random tragic accidents do happen indiscriminately to good people and to bad people.

Let us do whatever we CAN do to prevent those evils, wrongs, illnesses, accidents, etc. that are preventable.

Let us cope, stoically, with those  inexplicable-often very painful -evil or tragic events that are beyond our capability to control.

Let us then go on, constructively, always hoping, always working for our own well being and for the well being of the entire human race.
