ALCS GAME 3 WE BEAT THE ASTROS 8-2 !!!!!

Watching Jackie Bradley Jr. hit a grand slam in Houston was awesome and amazing - broke the game wide open, very satisfying after being mowed down by the Astros last year, 1,2,3,4. Like Dan Shaughnessy, our long time Globe sportswriter, I was skeptical - our pitching, especially the bullpen has been very shaky.......could we beat the Astros ? Answer, yes... in the post-season they're doing great !

IMHO the Red Sox have something to prove in the post-season this year. For the past two years they have won the Eastern division and then got mowed down for a very short post season. They went into this with a new slugger, J.D. Martinez and Steve Pearce and a new pick up pitcher, Eovaldi who has been lights out. So we are doing much better. Very competitive between these two teams.

GAME 4:

The fireworks started in the first inning, 2-0 Sox. Altuve almost had a home run but Mookie Betts jumped up to catch it over the fence but due to fan interference, MLB ruled it an out. Good break for the Sox.

I'm now listening to local radio station WEEI - I'd rather listen to Boston sports radio than those corporate 'announcers' who, IMHO seem biased for the Astros. They get so excited when the Astros make good plays and can barely call it when the Sox do well. Begruding is the word that comes to mind. I miss Don Orsillo who used to call our games at Fenway and is now basking in sunny San Diego working for the Padres.

This is not Porcello's night - he just gave up a home run, bottom of the 4th, 4-3 Astros. When they come alive, it's electric - Tony Kemp, Altuve, Alex Bregman + George Springer.

October 18th: Thursday:

I had to stop watching in the 7th inning - very late plus there is no way I can watch Craig Kimbrel pitch anymore. One of the Commenters said "i have to take my nitroglycerine tablets when Kimbrel takes the ball. Done. All done.

So it was a surprise to wake up today and find out the Red Sox won with Benintendi's diving catch.   Kimbrel gave up 2 runs + loaded the bases - he got the save but even Globe beat writer Peter Abraham said we won the game not due to Kimbrel but the outfield !
